FAO TO RELEASE REPORT ON ONTARIO’S ENERGY AND ELECTRICITY SUBSIDY PROGRAMS
TORONTO, February 15, 2022 – On Wednesday, February 16, 2022, the Financial Accountability Office of Ontario (FAO) will release a report that estimates the cost of the Province’s energy and electricity subsidy programs and reviews how the programs affect the electricity bills of Ontario households and businesses. The report also identifies changes to the subsidy programs since the introduction of the Fair Hydro Plan in 2017 and estimates the cost of those changes. Finally, the report discusses how the Province plans to achieve its commitment to lower electricity bills by 12 per cent.
The report will be posted on the FAO website www.fao-on.org/en/ at 9:00 a.m.
The FAO will provide a background briefing for accredited media at 10:00 a.m. via Microsoft Teams web conference following the release of the report. Please contact Jessica Martin at 647.527.2385 or JMartin@fao-on.org for log-in and password information.
At the media briefing, senior officials from the FAO will provide a brief presentation and answer questions on a not-for-attribution basis.
