FAO TO RELEASE LONG-TERM BUDGET OUTLOOK FOR ONTARIO OVER THE 2021-2050 PERIOD
TORONTO, March 9, 2022 – On Thursday, March 10, 2022, the Financial Accountability Office of Ontario (FAO) will release a report that provides a projection of Ontario’s economy and fiscal position from 2021 to 2050. The report assesses Ontario’s long-term fiscal sustainability, discusses factors that will affect the government’s program expenditures and revenue performance, and provides details on the FAO’s economic outlook including analysis of underlying demographic trends over the projection period.
The report will be posted on the FAO website www.fao-on.org/en/ at 9:00 a.m.
The FAO will provide a background briefing for accredited media at 10:00 a.m. via Microsoft Teams web conference following the release of the report. Please contact Jessica Martin at 647.527.2385 or JMartin@fao-on.org for log-in and password information.
At the media briefing, senior officials from the FAO will provide a brief presentation and answer questions on a not-for-attribution basis.
Ontario’s Financial Accountability Officer, Peter Weltman, will be available for “on-the-record” media questions immediately following the background briefing.
