Media Advisory: FAO to release report on the impact of provincial spending and revenue collection on Ontario families

FAO TO RELEASE REPORT ON THE IMPACT OF PROVINCIAL SPENDING
AND REVENUE COLLECTION ON ONTARIO FAMILIES

TORONTO, April 20, 2022 – On Thursday, April 21, 2022, the Financial Accountability Office of Ontario (FAO) will release a report that analyzes Ontario families’ contributions to provincial government revenues and the benefits they receive from provincial government spending. Using 2019-20 as a representative year, the report estimates how many families were net beneficiaries from provincial government revenue collection and spending, and how many were net contributors.

The report will be posted on the FAO website www.fao-on.org/en/ at 9:00 a.m. 

The FAO will provide a background briefing for accredited media at 10:00  a.m. via Microsoft Teams web conference following the release of the report. Please contact Jessica Martin at  647.527.2385  or JMartin@fao-on.org  for log-in and password information.   

At the media briefing, senior officials from the FAO will provide a brief presentation and answer questions on a not-for-attribution basis.   

Ontario’s Financial Accountability Officer, Peter Weltman, will be available for “on-the-record” media questions immediately following the background briefing.
