FAO RELEASES INTERACTIVE EXPENDITURE ESTIMATES WEBPAGE

TORONTO, May 28, 2024  Today, the Financial Accountability Office of Ontario (FAO) released an interactive webpage to support the Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs’ and the Standing Committee on Social Policy’s reviews of the 2024-25 Expenditure Estimates for seven ministries: Children, Community and Social Services; Colleges and Universities; Education; Finance; Health; Long-Term Care; and Treasury Board Secretariat. Together, these seven ministries account for 82 per cent of the Province’s 2024-25 spending plan in the 2024 Ontario Budget.

The 2024-25 Expenditure Estimates sets out the fiscal year’s spending requirements for ministries and constitutes the government’s formal request to the Legislature for approval to spend the amounts as detailed in the Estimates. With this interactive website, users can review the 2024-25 Expenditure Estimates for each ministry and compare requested spending against spending over the previous three years from the major program (known as a ‘Vote’) to the standard account level of detail.

Quick Facts:

  • Once approved by the Legislature in the Supply Act, the Expenditure Estimates become the legal spending authority for each ministry.
