Media Notice: FAO Releases Expanded Homelessness Dataset

TORONTO, October 1, 2026 – In response to interest in the regional information on the population experiencing homelessness in Ontario included in the Financial Accountability Office of Ontario’s (FAO) report An Update on Homelessness Programs in Ontario, the FAO has published an expanded dataset that provides information for all 47 service manager areas in Ontario. This dataset contains the total number of individuals experiencing homelessness on the Province’s By-Name List and the rate of homelessness per 100,000 population, by service manager area from 2022-23 to 2024-25.

As part of the release of the expanded dataset, the FAO has made revisions to Tables 5.2 and 5.3 of the report, which lists the top 10 service manager areas. In Table 5.2, which lists the total number of individuals experiencing homelessness on the By-Name List, the Regional Municipality of Waterloo moved from 11th to 10th in 2024-25. In Table 5.3, which lists the total number of individuals experiencing homelessness on the By-Name List per 100,000 population, the County of Lennox and Addington moved from 9th to 21st in 2024-25.
