Newly released FAO commentary reveals that Ontario’s labour market continued to perform strongly in 2018

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

TORONTO, February 5, 2019 – The Financial Accountability Office of Ontario (FAO) has just released a commentary that reviews Ontario’s labour market performance in 2018.

The commentary highlights the strong results for Ontario’s labour market in 2018, led by solid gains in full-time employment. The annual unemployment rate continued to decline, reaching lows not seen since the late 1980s. These positive results were also accompanied by an acceleration in wage growth, especially for part-time workers, youth and women. However, beyond the headline results, many Ontario workers continue to face significant challenges.
